The Sims 3 : Katy Perry's Sweet Treats

Genre             :  Life Simulation
Developers     :  EA Games
Release Date  :  June 2012

Katy Perry gives the new SIMS 3 game release a sweeter edition!

EA announced another "Katy Perry-inspired" Sims product is on the way. The Sims 3 Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats, a new item pack with a candy theme, will be arriving this June on the PC and Mac.

Sweet Treats basically lets you turn your Sims neighborhood into Candy Land. You'll get cotton candy trees, playground equipment made of licorice, and more. The stuff pack also features a Simlish version of Perry's song "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)."

"Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' is a really fun song to sing along to in any language, so I thought why not in Simlish?" said Perry.

What does Katy Perry have to do with a Sims 3 stuff pack? Well, she and EA entered into a long-term "creative collaboration" this year. As part of this arrangement, EA will release several Sims games featuring the singer. The first game released under this partnership was the Katy Perry Collector's Edition of The Sims 3 Showtime

Sweeten your Sims’ lives with delicious, Katy Perry-inspired items from a cupcake-themed guitar and candy playground equipment, to luscious cotton candy trees and more.
Turn your Sims’ homes and neighborhood into a vibrant candytopia, complete with whimsical and colorful furnishings and décor, such as a banana split sofa, a fountain made of candy, or even a waffle cone picnic table.
Outfit your Sims in an array of new clothing and hairstyles that are straight from Katy Perry’s red carpet appearances, music videos and concert performances all recreated for The Sims in a true to life way.
Transform the neighborhood with three, all-new, pre-built venues. Take your Sims for a dip at Patty’s Natural Baths, the sweet new pool venue, stroll over to the Bonbon Lawn Park that’s filled with candy-coated playground equipment, or relax at the sugar-filled Cake Pleasure Dome, the town’s charming local hangout.
Rock out with your Sims to a Simlish version of Katy Perry’s hit song, ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),’ recorded for the game by Katy Perry.

World Most Pirated Game

The most pirated game in 2011 was a PC shooter, but it wasn't Modern Warfare 3.

With 3,920,000 copies downloaded through bittorrent, TorrentFreak reported that Crysis 2

was the most pirated game in 2011. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 came a close second with 3,650,000 copies and Battlefield 3 followed with 3,510,000 copies. The PC versions of FIFA 12 and Portal 2 took the 4th and 5th locations.

As expected, PC games were pirated much more than their console counterparts. The most pirated Wii game was Super Mario Galaxy (1,280,000 copies) which was in fact released in 2010 and the most pirated Xbox 360 game was Gears of War 3 (890,000 copies). Torrentfreak didn't report PlayStation 3 games piracy statistics.

Project CARS : The Art Of Racing

Genre              :   Single-player/ Multiplayer Racing Game
Developers     :   Slightly Mad Studios
Release date  :   E3 2013

Project CARS (formerly C.A.R.S.) is a new project by Slightly Mad Studios (known for developing Need for Speed Unleashed). CARS stands for "Community Assisted Race Sim" which reflects the request for donations for funding previously.

The game is currently in development with a new build added weekly, allowing users to try new tracks and cars and various other updates for the game. The game has an impressive line up of tracks and cars even in its early release versions, including Classic Lotus, Formula One licenses, Monza, Mugello, and much more.

If you'd like to try the game, you can download it from the WMD Portal.
Community As a potentially revolutionary method of games development, now free from the shackled quarters within which publishers often confine development studios, comes an enigmatic alternative. The possibility to test each and every new item placed into new builds is countless. From cars to tracks , physics and even weather it can all be placed under the microscope. The frequency upon which bugs and minute discrepancies with things such as specific corner cambers are identified, although somewhat friutless at this stage, bodes imminently well for the coming neta and closing stages.

Trine 2

Genre                :   Platform/ Puzzle
Developers       :   Frozenbyte
Release Date   :   December 2011

Trine 2 is a puzzle platform video game, requiring the player to use the skills of the three characters, Amadeus the wizard, Zoya the thief, and Pontius the knight, to cross each game level. As with the first game, the mystical "Trine" has bound the three characters together into one common entity, and thus the player controls only one character which can be switched to the other two at any time. Each of the characters has unique abilities: Amadeus can use magic to grab onto certain objects in the game world, and create boxes and planks to be used to get around; Zoya can strike at objects with her arrows, and grapple onto certain surfaces; and Pontius is strong in combat against foes, can bash apart walls, and deflect projectiles with his shield. A combination of these elements are necessary to complete each stage in the game's world.
Characters have individual life meters, and if one character's meter depletes, that character cannot be used until the next checkpoint is reached. If all three characters lose their life meter, the player must start back at the last checkpoint. Throughout the game world are special magical vials, and for every fifty of these collected, the player receives a skill point, which can be used to gain abilities through a skill tree for each character. These skill points can be used collectively for each of the three characters, and can be traded between them.
Trine 2 also supports up to three players in a cooperative mode. In this mode, each player controls one of the three characters, but all must be unique; three players will be forced to play as Amadeus, Zoya, and Pontius. Two players can switch characters as long as both agree to the swap. If a character dies, the other players can revive the character at the next checkpoint. The skill tree is shared among all characters, based on the hosting player's saved game.
Story elements are incorporated into the game through the use of an all knowing narrator (voiced by Terry Wilton) as well as in-game scripted sequences. Scattered throughout the levels are also letters, poems, and documents which further flesh out the backstory and provide additional insight into the game's characters.

Minimum system requirements:
CPU: Core 2 Duo E4400, Athlon II X2 260u
GPU: Radeon HD 2400, NVIDIA GeForce 7600
RAM: 1 Gigabyte
HDD: 1.5 Gigabytes

LIMBO

Genre               :  Arcade, Puzzle - platform
           Release Date  :  (Steam) 2 August 2011
                                        (Retail) 15 March 2012
           Developers     :   Playdead

A boy wakes up in a forest. Ahead of him lies fear, uncertainty, death ... and his sister.

A two-dimensional, side-scrolling adventure with a heavy emphasis on puzzle-solving, Limbo turns this time-worn gaming genre on its ear: It's presented in grainy, flickering black and white, with characters existing simply as dark silhouettes against soft-focus backdrops. No health meters, no maps, no dialogue of any sort and very little music. And yet it's stunning, beautiful and unforgettable.

This netherworld is a frightening, deadly place, but one that compels you to keep exploring to see what grim sight or mind-bending puzzle lies ahead. Death is frequent, and necessary ... the game's dozens of puzzles and traps can often only be overcome through fatal trial and error.

And yet as tricky as some of these puzzles are -- your little glowing-eyed avatar will meet one horrible demise after another as you figure out how to advance through each area -- Limbo is somehow never frustrating. Dying is simply part of overcoming each obstacle, with bear traps and giant spiders eventually giving way to multi-part mind-benders involving magnets, gravity manipulation and rotating environments.

Everything in this greyscale world adheres to a consistent internal logic, and objects are bound by physical properties like gravity, momentum and friction, all of which are key to solving puzzles. It's science mated with art in a beautiful way -- violent without being gory, scary without being horrific, melancholy without being depressing, difficult without being insurmountable. Like the cogs of a gear, everything in Limbo meshes perfectly with everything else.

The game has just one flaw: It's over too soon. Most players will complete Limbo in three to four hours, and while that might be exactly as long as it needs to be, it's hard not to feel disappointed when it's over. People who are not fond of ambiguous endings might also be put off by Limbo's final scene, but since the whole game is open to interpretation, that's just fine.

If you liked the intriguing puzzle-platformer Braid, the wordless but evocative Ico or the classic side-scroller Out of This World, you will love Limbo. But even if you've never heard of or played these games, Limbo deserves your time. Like a polished piece of obsidian, this a dark, shining gem.

BottomLine

A unique and beautifully designed experience, Limbo will make you think and feel. What more can you ask for from a video game?

Gameplay :

The player controls the boy throughout the game. As is typical of most two-dimensional platform games, the boy can run left or right, jump, climb onto short ledges or up and down ladders and ropes, and push or pull objects. Limbo is presented through dark, greyscale graphics and with minimalist ambient sounds, creating an eerie, haunting environment. The dark visuals also hide numerous environmental and physical hazards, such as deadly bear traps on the forest floor, or lethal monsters hiding in the shadows, such as a giant spider. Among the hazards are glowing worms, which attach themselves to the boy's head and force him to travel in only one direction until removed.

The game's second half features mechanical puzzles and traps using machinery, electromagnets, and gravity. Many of these traps are not apparent until triggered, often with deadly consequences. The player is able to restart at the last encountered checkpoint, with no limits placed on how many times this can occur. Some traps can be avoided and used later in the game; one bear trap is used to clamp onto an animal's carcass, hung from the end of a rope, pulling it taut and allowing the boy to climb onto a ledge otherwise out of reach. As the player will likely encounter numerous deaths before they solve each puzzle and complete the game, the developers call Limbo a "trial and death" game. Some deaths are animated with images of the boy's dismemberment or beheading, although an optional gore filter blacks out the screen instead of showing these deaths. Game achievements (optional in-game goals) include finding hidden insect eggs and completing the game with five or fewer deaths.

CONFETTI CARNIVAL

A bizzare but perfectly presented physics puzzle game.
It's instantly fun, part puzzle part stunt-em-up action game with twitch game-play elements.

In this game you control several blobs of sentient goo in turn, clicking to fling them across the level. Your objective is to set off the level's bombs, but they can only be detonated by your blood. There isn't a nicer way of putting it. As a blob, you have to gash yourself open or blow yourself up to shower the bobs with your internal fluids. They explode, and yay, confetti !!

The main challenge is : how do i knock all these bombs into roughly the same area so i can splash them all at once?
What should i smash myself against to bleed over them most comprehensively?
And which blobs should i take in control of to splash which set of bombs?
Blue bombs will only be detonated by blue goo, red by red and so on. Sometimes bombs are arranged in sticky strands that block off other bombs, so ther's some strategy in which colour to eliminate first. This is all done with a squishy exuberance, polish and big grins. It feels like PopCap and 2D Boy made a game together: Peggle of Goo. Your goos smile as they rupture themselves, and splat satisfyingly on impact. And after each level, you unlock a new ability or mechanic.

Xbox Games on PC..... o_0

Windows 8 is most likely to release in autumn 2012, but that hasn't stop Microsoft releasing a preview build so coders can make programs to run on its new OS.

The new Microsoft OS has taken its inspiration from Microsoft's Windows Phones, focusing its technology on touch screen PC's. Press the start button now, and you're greeted with a screen filling mosaic of programs. If you have got access to a touch screen monitor or laptop, flipping between these can be done with the slide of the  finger. But touch screens aren't the norm, and Windows 8 feels clunky for those of us still riding our mice around our desktop. The lack of start menu and obfuscation of your desktop by the shiny new program gallery feels a little weird when we're used to total access.
The Developer's preview comes with games designed for touch screen control, but they are more than distractions. Microsoft has backed so far away from PC gaming in recent years that even the most widely optimistic won't be expecting Windows 8 to revolutionize it.
Rather than wooing us, Microsoft is hoping instead to lure XBOX 360 players under the umbrella of the PC.
Home Screen of Windows 8
Microsoft showed Windows 8 potential XBOX Live integration at the build conference in last years september. Internet rumor prior to the event suggested microsoft would let people play Xbox games on their PC and console .

" It will be easy for developers to create games for windows 8 that take advantage of power of Xbox Live ."

I hope I made my point.
Thanks you.

Top 10 Games of 2011

The PC had a strong showing, with a meaty selection of exclusive and multisystem releases last year.2011 was indeed a great year to be a gamer. Here’s buyer’s guide of the top must-own games from the calendar year. Have you played them all?

10. Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Genre            : First-person shooter/ RPG
Release date :  in August 2011
Developers   : Eidos, Square enix

Set decades before the events of the first game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel of 2000's Deus Ex.

2000’s Deus Ex changed the face of gaming.  this latest entry in the series lives up to those impossibly high standards. Human Revolution is an intelligent, challenging and Blade Runner-beautiful vision of the future, with game-play that’s customizable to qualify as both 100% shooter and 100% stealth. The original Deus Ex was a uniquely well-judged mix of RPG and shooter. Shooting was always an option, but never the only one. Whats exciting about Human Revolution is that it genuinely does seem to have that delicate balance of hacking, stealth, combat and dialogue options open to you throughout. In other words, which genre you experience is completely up to you.

The game played out from first- person perspective, but shifted to third person as players take cover behind objects. The third person view is very fascinating and unique. You can take out enemy combatants through stealth, brute force, or even use your hacking abilities to get sentry guns and armed robots on your side and do your work. The whole point of Deus Ex is the number of different approaches you can take.

The game is a bit heavy handed on stealth as opposed to all out combat, but if you persist, you can blast your way through every level.
Also the Gameplay is long enough to keep you occupied for at least 25 hours.

Minimum System requirements :

CPU                      :         2 GHz Dual core CPU
RAM                     :         1 GB RAM (XP) / 2 GB (Vista and Windows 7)
Graphic card       :          NVIDIA GeForce 8 series or ATI Radeon HD 2000 series or better
HDD                     :         8.5 GB free hard disk space

9. The Witcher 2 : Assassins of Kings

Genre            :  RPG
Release date :  17th may, 2011
developer      :   CD Projekt RED

It Surely is One of the best RPG's of the year.
The witcher 2 is  a sequel to the 2007 video game "The Witcher".

          The Good in the game:
  • Morally ambiguous choices lead to game-changing consequences
  • A number of exciting and memorable moments
  • Phenomenal visuals with a grim tone
  • Involving tale of lost memories and political allegiances
  • Fun, challenging combat with a satisfying sense of impact

    The Bad in the game:
  • A variety of bugs
  • Combat sometimes
  • ventures into cheap territory
  • Unsatisfying conclusion.

If you played the original Witcher, then forget what you learned from its combat mechanics. The Witcher 2 abandons that rhythmic system for a more traditional and challenging one. You still switch between silver and steel swords, depending on whether you are facing monsters or humans, but regardless of the weapon you equip, be prepared for the occasional beatdown. You initiate standard attacks with your mouse, and you block and cast signs (Geralt's magic spells) with the keyboard.

An adult narrative that’s actually for adults
Gaming has come a very long way in terms of interactive narratives and the medium has several works to be proud of. But as impressive as your Mass Effects and Dragon Ages are, the complete moral polarization of the choices presented in these games has become almost comical. In layman’s terms, choosing between Christ-like benevolence and jet-black satanic tyranny has gotten pretty old. The Witcher 2 sidesteps this cliché by creating a gray, ambiguous world that abandons right and wrong for a much more complex focus on choices and consequences. From the very first chapter, the game bombards you with a series of confrontations that will give you pause as to how to proceed.

Typically, games that attempt to introduce truly adult themes into their narrative structure usually just come across as unironically juvenile; The Witcher 2 handles its incredibly mature tone with an unflinching, unapologetic sophistication that demands you take it seriously (and no, I’m not just talking about the amazing breast textures in all of those wonderfully detailed sex scenes). You’re constantly encountering instances of racially motivated violence, rape and prostitution. Every faction and political figure is corrupt to some degree. Even your closest friends have their own agendas that don’t necessarily involve you.

Minimum system requirements :

CPU                      :         Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
RAM                     :         1 GB RAM (XP) / 2 GB (Vista and Windows 7)
Graphic card       :         GeForce GTS 250 / Radeon HD 5670 512MB
HDD                     :         16 GB free hard disk space

8. Batman : Arkham city
Genre               :   Action - Adventure
Release Date   :   November 22, 2011
Developers      :   Rocksteady Studios

It is the sequel to the 2009 video game Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Arkham City is an open world action video game that incorporates elements of stealth and predator tactics. The gadgets previously obtained in the first game are present at the start of Arkham City, while others are available later in the game. Most of these gadgets have improved or boast new capabilities.
The game incorporates more puzzle elements; the use of Batman's "Detective Mode", which highlights elements such as enemy skeletons and clues on-screen, is used to perform forensic activities such as tracing the origin of a sniper round.

Asylum can be called as one of the greatest detective game of all time , but Arkham city is the greatest batman game. It has tone and music that are similar to the recent movies. The voice actors from batman: The animated series, and a storyline inspired by the No Mans Land comic series. But more to its credit, throwing allof Batman's villains into a less linear, open-world game forced players to make tough decisions, to think like batman. "Do i rescue that hostage, or finish this fight.....think, Bruce !THINK !"

Minimum System requirements :

CPU                      :         Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 4800+

4. battlefield 3
Genre             :   FPS
Release Date :   October, 2011
Developers    :   EA DICE

BF3 is a FPS video game developed by EA DICE. It is a direct sequel to 2005's Battlefield 2, and the eleventh game in the Battlefield series.

If you're a fan of modern day military shooters, Battlefield 3 is your best bet this year. Even if you don't like to play military games, the graphics and game effect will attract you. The single player campaign may have been a tad dull andpredictable, but DICE more than made up for that with very addictive multiplayer we're playing till date. Unlike other online Shooters that penalize players for lacking razor sharp reflexes, Battlefield 3 allows newcomers to ease into the game by offering them support roles as well. If running around the battlefield dishing out ammunition or health doesn't seem like an exciting prospect, grab a chopper and rain down  hell fire on ground targets or command a jet and become a force to reckoned with.

Battlefield 3 also gets our unanimous approval for being the most technical sound shooter out there. DICE's Frostbite 2 engines brings fire fights to life in a very gorgeous way with some phenomenal lighting effects and texture work while the game's sound simply put, is the best in business.
Campaign:
The game's campaign takes place in the year 2014. The initial sections of the campaign are set near the Iraq-Iran border, where the US Marine Corps are fighting the People's Liberation and Resistance (PLR). The game later moves into northern Iran, continuing the fight against the PLR. There is a mission set in the streets of Paris, and another set in the sewers and subways of New York.

Minimum System requirements :

CPU                      :         Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 4800+

3. PORTAL 2

Genre             :   First person puzzle
Release Date :
    Developers    :

Like its predecessor, Portal 2 challenges players to use portals to traverse rooms in unusual manners. A player-character executing the "flinging" maneuver gains speed by falling into the blue portal to shoot across a wide gap upon exiting the orange portal.

Portal 2 may have played out from a first person perspective, but that doesn't make it a shooter. It is a puzzle game at heart, just like its predecessor "Portal", only it added in more mind-bending puzzles and new story in gameplay. The best part about Portal 2 puzzles is that they never felt too tough or too cheap. If you could'nt figure a way out, it may be because you aren't thinking out of the box. Rest assured , when the answer finally hit you, the sense of satisfaction was palpable.

The game even added standalone co-operative missions into the mix and they were the best implementations of co-op play we've seen in a game till date. They weren't just copy- paste variants of single player missions; these were brand new ones designed from the ground up to facilitate and encourage co-operative play.
